Picture of featured person

Antonia is a PhD candidate in Environmental Economics and the Vrijie Universiteit Amsterdam.

Why did you choose to study economics?

Because it makes my eyes sparkle. Because I love looking at societal problems with the help of maths. Because I always ask "WHY" and look for a logical explanation.

How would you describe economics?

Looking at the world with equations.

If you had a time machine and could meet your 16-year-old self, what advice would you give them?

Trust your gut feeling. Don't listen too much what others find cool (e.g. I never went to a Science Museum because I thought it cannot be too interesting because most of my friends back then weren't interested. I realized now that I LOVE SCIENCE MUSEUMS!).

What is your favourite part of economics?

Macroeconomic Models!

Is there anything you would do differently if you had the chance?

No, all bad choices make you value your good choices! The motto "Everything's gonna be alright" is indeed true. Don't be scared of the future and trying out as most as possible!
